Element: Prepare to install mosaic and panel parquetry flooring
Interpret mosaic and panel parquetry flooring installation requirements from job and manufacturer instructions and calculate the quantities of materials required
Identify hazards relating to the work site, work practices, materials, tools and equipment, and check risk treatments are in place and operating
Select and check all required tools and equipment are ready to use, and organise to fix any deficiencies according to workplace procedures
Gather the parquetry flooring material and confirm its species, grade, size, quantity and quality against job instructions
Check and confirm the parquetry flooring material’s moisture content is suitable for site conditions according to workplace procedures
Gather adhesives, trims and other materials required by job instructions, and check they meet quality requirements and are prepared and ready to install according to the manufacturer instructions, product labels, safety data sheets and workplace procedures
Element: Install moisture vapour barrier and underlay
Confirm the subfloor is clean and suitable for installing the moisture vapour barrier and parquetry, and fix or report any deficiencies according to workplace procedures
Remove or undercut door jambs, cover trims and other joinery, and store for refitting or send for machining according to job instructions
Fasten the moisture vapour barrier according to manufacturer instructions
Measure, mark and cut underlay to length and size to minimise waste
Fasten underlay according to workplace procedures and manufacturer instructions
Finish installing underlay to meet quality requirements
Element: Cut, fit and fasten mosaic and panel parquetry flooring
Establish the starting point and mark out working lines
Lay out the parquetry flooring according to job instructions to maximise aesthetics with respect to material colours, grains and patterns, to minimise waste, and to ensure an efficient, quality installation
Measure, mark and cut parquetry fingers or panels as required
Apply adhesive to the substrate according to the according to the manufacturer instructions, product labels, safety data sheets and workplace procedures
Install the parquetry flooring according to the manufacturer instructions, allowing appropriate intermediate and perimeter expansion joints
Install finishing strips appropriate for the type of subfloor, refit removed items and finish installing the flooring
Check the parquetry flooring is installed correctly according to job instructions and quality requirements, and fix any deficiencies
Make any necessary preparations for sanding the parquetry flooring according to job instructions
Element: Complete the task according to workplace procedures
Clean up the work area, identify items for recycling and dispose of waste
Identify, tag and report any damage to equipment and tools
Check, clean and do routine maintenance on equipment and tools and store them and unused materials
